What is Filler Reversal – Hyaluronidase?

This is a procedure to break down or dissolve hyaluronic acid filler. It is performed in one or multiple sessions, depending on the desired result. You will meet with our dermatologist and, together, formulate a plan for treatment. Results are noted immediately and can be refined in subsequent sessions. Please note that we recommend having filler reversed with the individual who initially injected your filler whenever possible.

What’s the Procedure Like?

First, your previous experience with filler will be discussed, including the specific product used. The use of hyaluronidase will be tested for safety and suitability (a test on your arm). The site for reversal will be photographed, cleansed and then treated.

Who’s an ideal candidate?

If you had treatment with hyaluronic acid and the result is not what you had hoped for, then treatment to dissolve it can help. You understand that more than 1 session may be required. You understand that the filler you have in your face will be dissolved, resulting in an appearance similar to before you had the filler injected.

Who should avoid this treatment?

If the treatment you had was not with hyaluronic acid, or you do not know what was injected, then hyaluronidase may not be the most suitable option. If you are uncomfortable with the idea that the process may occur over multiple sessions, then you may instead decide not to undergo the procedure. If you would be disappointed to lose the filler injected/ volume to your face/ lips, then this is not your best option for treatment

What is the downtime for this treatment?

After the procedure, you may be a bit swollen. We provide you with do’s and don’ts of aftercare from cosmetic products to not use, medications to avoid and activities to postpone.
